The following was issued to the NPR website on August 27, 2010, regarding an article published on their web site about the Beck rally that was to be held the following day at the site of the Lincoln Memorial. Out of 750 comments, it was the 8th most recommended.

Last year Beck, over the air, accused President Obama of being a racist and that the president had a deep seated hatred of white people or the white culture (a term he would not define when pressed in interview by Katie Couric). The intent of such irresponsible behavior is transparent as it is divisive and reinforces fear and bigotry that, in its worst form, can result in hate crimes. I fault Fox in keeping such irresponsible’ journalism’ on the air (and Beck can not hide behind the moniker of being an entertainer as there is a political intent behind his actions). And with Fox having 3 of the top 5 Republican (Presidential) candidates on the payroll and with News Corp issuing large sums of money in support of Republican candidates, Fox needs to drop its slogan of issuing fair and balanced news.
